WHY SCHOOLS SHOULD REQUIRE UNIFORMS
Teachers and School Faculty
Studies show that the majority of teachers and school faculty members actually believe that having a uniform policy benefits schools positively. Within that group of students and faculty members who believe that school uniforms benefit schools positively there are many different perspectives on why uniform policies should be enforced. Each holding their perspective for their own respected reasons.
School administrators on many instances argue that when students are required to wear uniform they seem to be more behaved than when they are not. School principals especially seem to note the increase in positive behavior by students. In a study performed by NAESP or Nationals Association of Elementary School Principals, 67% of school principals noted an increase in the concentration of students on their academics. In a similar study by the NAESP it showed that many school principals noticed an increase in school unity after requiring uniforms.
Teachers in specific apparently are very for school uniforms even more so than the other school administrators. In another survey done by the National Association of Elementary School Principals, it showed that 64 percent of teachers believed that uniforms positively affected student achievement, 79 percent of teachers believed uniforms positively impacted student safety, 83 percent of teachers believed that uniforms positively impacted the school’s image within their community, and most importantly 85 percent of teachers believed that school uniforms positively impact classroom discipline.
That fact that teachers perceive classroom discipline and being positively impacted is so important because it increases the chance of teachers deciding to stay and continue teaching at an institution, which something that is always beneficial for an academic institution.
